Carpinus betulus 'Fastigiata'

Deciduous, upright symmetrical tree.

Common Name: Fastigiata European Hornbeam, Common Hornbeam, Upright European Hornbeam, Columnar European Hornbeam

An excellent ornamental because of its clean foliage, generally, upright growth habit, and adaptability. Branches ascend, but its form is not columnar in outline. It has a wide, round base. This deciduous, upright symmetrical specimen presents a formal, clean appearance and becomes tear-drop shaped with age. The foliage is bright green and dense during the summer, and turns yellow in the fall. Suitable for a wide range of conditions including some air pollution. Great for a tall screen, hedge, or street tree. Growth Rate medium.
