Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'
Clumps of glowing foliage striped with green.
Common Name: Golden Japanese Forest Grass, Golden Hakone Grass, Golden Variegated Hakone Grass, Japanese Forest Grass
Probably the most colorful grass variety available for non-tropical climates. The clumps are short and are best used planted in front of medium or tall sized plants that have opposite or contrasting colors such as reds, purples, and whites. The cascading foliage resembles falling water which makes it marvelous beside a pond or tumbling out of shade borders. The dark green leaves have broad yellow stripes going vertically. The overall effect is of a golden arching grass. Great for containers in the spring-fall.
