Hosta 'Fortunei Hyacinthina'
Good, hardy plant with bold gray-green leaves.
Common Name: Hosta 'Hyacinthina', Hosta fortunei 'Hyacinthina'
In early to mid-summer, spikes grow from the center of each crown which produce large trumpet shaped blooms for up to a month. 'Hyacinthina' has medium sized dark green leaves and more beautiful flowers than most other Hosta varieties. Plant your hosta in areas with well drained soil. If your soil does not drain well, consider adding five or six inches of topsoil or compost to form a raised bed and planting in that. Fertilize in early spring as the new shoots are beginning to emerge from the ground to encourage strong growth.
